Guru Travel and the  Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation  Society are committed to ending the human elephant conflict, saving the asian elephant from extinction.

During our stay in Sri Lanka we have the unique opportunity to participate with the staff of the SLWCS in elephant tracking and research.  As part of the plan to end human elephant conflict SLWCS has built electric fences around the farmlands on the elephant migration paths.  These fences are monitored daily for breaks to ensure the ongoing safety of farmers and elephants as they co exist on the same land.  We are also working on several other conservation initiatives in order to solve the human elephant conflict.  We are supporting the farmers in buffering  their crops with  orange trees as elephants don't  like the smell, taste or thorns on citrus trees. .

Guru Travel and SLWCS are also working together to participate in captive animal management to help improve the lives of the large captive animal population of Sri Lanka.
